Machynlleth
This 35 mile circular route takes you on the A487 from Machynlleth via Corris towards Dolgellau and before turning off on the B4405 to Tywyn via the picturesque Talyllyn lake at the foot of Cadair Idris. Return to Machynlleth via Aberdyfi.
Machynlleth
Machynlleth railway station is on the Cambrian Line from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth. Trains also depart from here for the Cambrian Coast Line to Pwllheli.
Arthog
Arthog Bog is located in southern Snowdonia between Dolgellau and Fairbourne. It is a small wetland and a wonderful place to see weird and wonderful plants, flowers, butterflies and birds.
Llwyngwril is a coastal village with a population of around 500. The village falls within the Snowdonia National Park.

Cadair Idris is a spectacular mountain reserve in southern Snowdonia with a variety of landscapes and terrain that cover over 450 hectares of breathtaking landscape.

Harlech beach is an ideal place for children to play and an even better spot for adults to sit back and relax. The beautiful sand dunes are the reason behind the area’s designation as a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Blaenau Ffestiniog railway station is the terminus of the Conwy Valley Line from Llandudno Junction; most trains run from/to Llandudno. Trains connect with the North Wales Coast Line. It is also the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway.

Aberdyfi has a station on the Cambrian Coast Line from Machynlleth to Pwllheli and also at Penhelig at the east end of the village.
Dolgellau
Dolgellau is the ideal base to explore southern Snowdonia's dramatic scenery, adrenalin-fuelled activities and world heritage attractions. It's a historic mountain town built on the wool trade and steeped in folklore.

Machynlleth Town Centre
This section of route 82 heads South towards Aberystwyth but the route is still under construction. Beyond Aberystwyth the route heads along the old railway line towards Tregaron and Lampeter. The route finishes in Fishguard.
Bala
Bala & Penllyn is an area within the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park surrounded by the peaks of Aran Benllyn, Arenig Fawr and the Berwyn Mountains and home to the largest natural lake in Wales,

Gwynedd
Barmouth is southern Snowdonia’s most popular seaside resort. In summer, its big sandy beach is a magnet for visitors, yet there’s so much space along miles of unbroken sands that it never gets overcrowded.
Portmeirion - Aberdyfi
For visitors that enjoy sea views, coastal towns and villages and stunning beaches, the southern Snowdonia section of the Wales Coastal Way from Portmeirion to Machynlleth follows the Cardigan Bay coastline - a real experience not to be missed.

A two mile stretch of sand backed by steep pebble banks and surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park.
Llanuwchlyn, Bala
