Guided Tours in Mid Wales

Having a local guide makes all the difference in Mid Wales. Someone who knows the paths, the history and where the wildlife is can turn a good day out into something you remember for years.

Walking guides operate across the Cambrian Mountains, Brecon Beacons and along the Ceredigion coast. Many specialise in particular areas and can take you to places that are not on any map, quiet valleys, hidden waterfalls and ridge lines with views that stretch to Cadair Idris.

Wildlife safari tours run in several parts of Powys, focused on red kites, ospreys at the Dyfi nest, and the birdlife of upland moors and estuaries. Evening tours targeting badgers, otters and barn owls are available from spring through autumn.

Heritage tours cover everything from Iron Age hillforts to the industrial archaeology of lead mines in the Cambrian Mountains. Some guides combine walking with storytelling, weaving local legends and real history together as you move through the landscape.

Food trails and tasting tours visit farm shops, cheese makers, breweries and producers who make their living from the land around them.

Most tours need booking in advance and group sizes are usually kept small.
