About

The art of landscape photography, for me, is far more than technical execution. It is a contemplative practice: a quiet, patient way of being in the world that blends photography with aspects of personal development. Through my School of Photography, I work with photographers of all levels, from those just beginning to find their way with a camera to those seeking to deepen a long-held creative practice.

My teaching is built around the Five Pillars of Meaningful Landscape Photography™. The Five Pillars consist of: Connection, Intention, Observation, Attention, and Reflection, and are rooted in a foundation of Presence. This is a framework that has emerged from nearly a decade of my own creative work in the hills, valleys, and ancient woodlands of Mid Wales. Whether we meet in the field for a single morning or walk a longer path together, the intention is the same: to help you move beyond the surface and create photographs that carry something of your own inner world and help you express something beyond words.

Private One-to-One Tuition

This is my flagship offering, and the work I love most. Whether you are finding your way with the fundamentals, learning to see compositions in the landscape, or beginning to unearth your own creative voice, our sessions are shaped entirely around where you are. I bring my full attention; you bring your willingness to slow down, look more carefully, and trust the creative process. Lasting growth tends to follow.

Intimate Group Workshops

My workshops are small by design. With only a handful of photographers gathered in any one place, there is room for unhurried instruction, reflective conversation, and the quiet companionship of others walking a similar path towards self-expression. The Mid Wales landscape, its oak woodlands, hidden waterfalls, and ever-present mountains, is an extraordinary teacher in its own right. Through these experiences, you'll learn lessons only nature can teach.

Creative Retreats & Residential Workshops

For those seeking something deeper, I host immersive multi-day experiences in some of the UK's most evocative landscapes. These are not packed itineraries but unhurried gatherings designed to invite a genuine encounter with the natural world and with the inner landscape that so often emerges in its quiet company. Time, space, and stillness are the priorities of these experiences. The photographs follow naturally.

My Philosophy

I believe that meaningful photographs come from somewhere deeper than technique alone. They emerge from presence, from patience, and from a willingness to meet both the landscape and ourselves with honesty. Whether we meet for an afternoon, a weekend, or a longer journey together, my hope is simply that you leave with images you feel are truly your own, and perhaps, with a little more of yourself returned to you in the process.
