Details

New Quay, at the heart of Cardigan Bay is the best place to take a boat trips to try to spot dolphins, you might even spot them before you have even stepped onto the boat from the harbour wall. We offer a chance to be closer to the action of the dolphins choose to perform during your one or two hour Dolphin Spotting Boat Trips. We will be taking you south as far as Cwmtydu on the one hour trip, passing a bird colony of auks, seal haul-out areas and historic sites and with the two hour cruise which offers the increased chance of spotting dolphins you will venture further down the coast to the little bay of Ynys Lochtyn, just before the village of Llangrannog which is one of the main feeding areas for the dolphins so is one of the best spots when they are not spotted at New Quay. During both trips, the experienced skipper and crew will keep their eyes on the water for an encounter with some of the many bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoise which thrive here. The two hour boat often has volunteer researchers from the SeaWatch Foundation on board who monitor the dolphins for the welsh government. Fare paying passengers like you make it possible for us to give free passage to Sea Watch to carry out their vital conservation work in New Quay.

If you keep your eyes on the skies during the wait for dolphins, you might spot a rare chough, plus throughout the trip gannets, shearwaters, oystercatchers, cormorants & shags and depending on the time of year auks in their thousands as well as the numerous gulls. Sunfish spotted every summer but not as regularly as our Atlantic grey seals who often pop up to see who is passing by and better still basking on rocks in the sunshine.
