About
Known locally as Benar Beach, Tal-y-Bont Beach is north of Barmouth and the Mawddach Estuary. It forms part of the large sand system of Morfa Dyffryn which is designated as an area of Special Scientific Interest as one of the most adaptable ecosystems in the UK with sand dunes that are constantly developing.
Benar Beach is excellent for surfing, with consistently good waves. The beach is also popular for fishing for bass, flounders and plaice. Inland is the village of Tal-y-Bont and the beach is accessible from the village by bike using the National Cycle Route 8 which passes through Tal-y-Bont.
Toilets and parking. Dogs are restricted from the beach between April to September.
