Tywyn beach in southern Snowdonia spans 5 miles of the coastline, from Tywyn Town in the north, to Aberdyfi harbour in the south. There are very few rocks on the beach, so together with its west-facing aspect, it is a popular beach for surfing. The beach’s wide, open location makes it popular for all kinds of other watersports, including jet skiing. Tywyn's sandy beach is perfect for dog walks, sunsets. good walks with spectacular views of Cardigan Bay.

A long promenade offers pleasant strolling along the seafront and there is a paddling pool nearby, there is good access on to the beach for disabled people from the promenade. The Mid Wales coast is home to harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins, which may be spotted off the coast near the here.

The town of Tywyn attracts many holiday makers and has a good range of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and other services. Toilets, parking, shop and cafe on the promenade. Just north of Tywyn lies the saltwater lagoon Broadwater, noted for bird-watching, fishing, canoeing and its stunning views towards Bird Rock and Cadair Idris.

Tywyn Beach has a well-signed section in front of the promenade which is off-limits to dog between 1st April and 30th September. However there is a fantastic stretch of beach to either side where dogs are allowed all year round.

Wales Coast Path | Tywyn

Wales is the first country in the World to have a path going the whole way around it, and you’ll find some of the most spectacular scenery along the Cardigan Bay Coastline, and through Tywyn. The Tywyn to Aberdyfi stretch may only be 4 miles long, but you’ll get to explore 4 miles of one of Wales’s top blue flag beaches. North of Tywyn you’ll get to walk over the Tonfanau Bridge over the Dysynni Estuary. This was built specially for the for the Wales Coast Path, and is a great link between Tywyn and Tonfanau to the South.

Tywyn is south-west of Dolgellau on the A493; turn off this road in the town by the railway station for the beach.
