About

Wales' best kept secret for 315 million years! The National Showcaves Centre for Wales in the Brecon Beacons National Park is one of Wales' top award-winning attractions. Discover and explore the twisting passageways and great caverns, and come face to face with over 200 life-sized dinosaur models.  Visit the gentle giants down at the Shire Horse Centre and the farm, where you'll find indoor and outdoor play areas..

There are ten attractions included in the one entry ticket, and there is plenty to see and do for all ages.

THE NATIONAL SHOWCAVES CENTRE FOR WALES
Three different caves Dan-yr-Ogof, Cathedral Cave, and Bone Cave, each offer a unique underground experience.

Walk through the beautifully decorated passageways of Dan-yr-Ogof Cave for just under 1 kilometre, explore the enormous, awe-inspiring caverns of Cathedral Cave, carved out millions of years ago by torrents of water, and walk behind the stunning 40 foot-high waterfalls that cascade around you in the ‘Dome of St Paul’s’. In Bone Cave learn why 42 human skeletons were buried here, and how our ancestors used caves all those years ago.

DINOSAUR PARK and TRAIL
On site is one of the world’s largest collections of life-sized dinosaur models, ranging from the ever-popular Tyrannosaurus Rex and Brachiosaurus, to the lesser-known Tsintaosaurus. There are over 250 models – can you spot your favourite?

THE SHIRE HORSE CENTRE
The Shire Horse Centre offers the excitement of indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf, the farm yard area, and why not make friends with our gentle giants – the Shire horses who are just waiting to say 'Hello!'.

MUSEUM and IRON AGE VILLAGE
The museum holds the latest interactive technology, where you can watch experienced cavers make their way through the further reaches of the cave. Paint your own dinosaur and send a copy by email to yourself to print out, or share with your friends! Discover scientists’ theories explaining what might have happened to the dinosaurs...   Discover how our behaviour impacts our environment both above and below ground, too.

Include the Iron Age village, and stone circles, and you have plenty to see and do for all ages.

COFFEE SHOP and ROCK & DINOSAUR SHOP                                                                                                                                                      For those who want a break, you'll find hot and cold food and drinks, plus plenty of snacks, at Mr Morgan's Coffee Shop, and the Rock and Dinosaur shop holds the perfect memento of your day - feel free to come in and browse!

CAMPING & CARAVAN PARK
Dan-yr-Ogof is located on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and you could not find a better holiday base for your caravan, motor home, or tent. Voted one of the top 25 caravan parks in Britain by a national newspaper, the camp site is very environmentally friendly as your electrical needs are produced on site by hydro generators and solar panels.
