About

Newcastle Emlyn takes its name from the cantref of Emlyn which was an administrative district in Medieval Dyfed. The cantref was made part of the Norman March in the 12th century.

Straddling the Ceredigion and Cramarthen border, Newcastle Emlyn provides a perfect base from which to explore the best of both counties. A bustling small town with unhurried charm, a coterie of fine pubs and 13th century Norman castle, it has plenty to offer.

The Teifi Valley narrow gauge steam railway is a very popular attraction, whilst the National Wool Museum, the National Coracle Centre and the West Wales Museum of Childhood are both only a stones throw away.
