You are here: Experience and Enjoy > Wellbeing
Mental wellbeing is so important. Whether that’s connecting with people, being physically active, learning new skills, giving to others, or paying attention to the present moment (mindfulness).
Llandrindod Wells in Powys is known as Llandrindod Wellness. It’s grounded in the heritage of this Mid Wales spa town, recognising that natural health and wellness are increasingly important in today’s world. Llandrindod’s traditional town crest features Hygieia, the Goddess of Health. ‘Llandrindod Wellness’ also reflects the quality of life that you can enjoy here. No congestion or pollution issues.
And that goes for the whole of Mid Wales. We live well here.
Visiting Mid Wales gives you an opportunity to reconnect with yourself. Bring your loved ones and reconnect with them. Share new experiences together to build closer relationships. Take time to be together. Arrange a day out with friends you’ve not seen for a while.
Being physically active could mean a short walk, or a mountain hike. It could be a new activity or finding time to do something you’ve always loved.
Learn new skills, if that’s what makes you happy. Standing up on a paddleboard, candle making, workshops with natural crafts, pottery – Mid Wales has so many different experiences to share. Find an experience or activity you enjoy and incorporate them into your visit to Mid Wales.
The act of giving can help improve your wellbeing too – if you know someone in need of a well-deserved break, treat them to one in Mid Wales. Gift vouchers are available from many of our local businesses.
The Cambrian Mountains are empty in a way that takes some getting used to. You can walk for hours and not see another person. That kind of quiet has a real effect on your mood, and people who come here to unwind find it works faster than they expected.
Walking routes across the region range from gentle riverside paths along the Wye and Severn to longer ridge walks with views across three counties. Cycling follows quiet lanes through valleys where the only traffic is the occasional tractor.
Lake Vyrnwy, the Elan Valley and the coast around Aberaeron are all good places to sit and be still. Sometimes doing nothing in the right place is the most restorative thing you can do.
