People come to Mid Wales for weddings because the landscape does half the decorating for you. Stone barns with mountain backdrops, country houses with gardens that run down to the river, lakeside venues where the light at sunset makes everything look like a painting. The venues here are real places, not purpose-built function centres, and that makes a difference you can feel.
Space, for one thing. Your guests will not be squeezed into a conference room with a view of a car park. Venues here come with grounds, views and the kind of quiet that lets you hear the vows without a microphone. The air is clean, the sky is big, and on a clear evening the stars come out properly.
Value matters too. Wedding venues in Mid Wales are generally more affordable than equivalent spaces in the Cotswolds, Lake District or South-West England. Your budget goes further, which means you can spend more on the things that matter: good food, live music, an extra night for everyone.
The region offers hotel venues with in-house catering and guest rooms, residential venues where you book the whole property, converted barns and farmhouses, and outdoor-licensed sites for ceremonies under open sky. Capacity ranges from intimate gatherings of 20 to large celebrations of 200 or more.
Most venues are within the Brecon Beacons, Central Powys or Ceredigion, with a smaller number in Southern Snowdonia. Some of the best-known are in the Wye and Usk valleys, where the river provides a natural backdrop.
Browse the wedding services for florists, caterers, photographers and other suppliers based in the area. Most wedding venues offer site visits by appointment, and many hosts will talk you through the options over the phone before you commit to anything. Start with the venue, build the rest around it.
Popular wedding dates in Mid Wales fill up well in advance, especially summer Saturdays. If you have flexibility, autumn and spring weddings offer lower prices and often better light for photographs. Some venues run winter wedding packages at significant discounts. Start your search at least 12 months ahead for peak dates. Browse our residential wedding venues for exclusive-use properties, or look at accommodation options for your guests nearby.
