About

By the Wye is a riverside glamping retreat in Hay-on-Wye, Powys, offering luxury safari tents nestled amongst ancient woodland on the banks of the River Wye. Designed for guests looking to slow down and reconnect with nature, each safari tent combines the experience of being outdoors with comfortable beds, private bathroom facilities, outdoor living space and woodland surroundings.

A stay at By the Wye places you within walking distance of Hay-on-Wye while providing a peaceful base for exploring Mid Wales, the Wye Valley and the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). Couples, families and small groups can enjoy riverside walks, wildlife watching, wild swimming opportunities and time spent relaxing in the woodland setting.

Guests can also enhance their stay with a range of additional bookable experiences. These include woodland wellness sessions, forest bathing experiences, private wood-fired sauna experiences, mindful nature activities, fishing opportunities and seasonal outdoor activities. Wellness treatments such as massage, reflexology and Reiki may also be available to book at an additional cost. Availability varies and advance booking is recommended.

Whether you are visiting for a romantic break, a family adventure or a slower-paced countryside escape, By the Wye offers a unique riverside glamping experience surrounded by nature.

Come for a Hay-Cation
The town of Hay on Wye is a stone’s throw from the campsite. Situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Hay on Wye is famous as the town of books, and for the annual Hay Festival.

Today Hay-on-Wye – or Y Gelli Gandryll as it is known in the Welsh language – is friendly, lively and vibrant and, unsurprisingly for a town with such individuality and literary associations, is twinned with Timbuktu, which itself has the oldest Islamic library in the world.
