About

Tiny group engaging sessions with animals in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Piggy walks, Dinky Donkey picnics & games and Sheepdog sessions on a Welsh hill farm.

Good Day Out Experience Days & Activities are perfect stress-busting ways to enjoy the lovely countryside of Mid Wales, just an hour's drive from Cardiff. Take a stroll in the company of a friendly little animal or learn about rural skills and wildlife conservation. All are small group activities, with knowledgeable, engaging, low-key trainers based in and around the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

The Good Day Out walks with animals are mostly attended by adults but sensible, quiet, animal-loving children are welcome and the sessions are great for intergenerational groups.  The welfare of the animals is paramount and the pigs & donkeys are pets who will live out their natural lives. None of our animals are like petting farm animals so respectful interaction with them is a rewarding and enjoyble bonding experience.

- PIGGY WALK WITH A PIG-NIC -

Swim with pigs in the Bahamas? Pah!........ Paddle with Pigs in the Brecon Beacons.

Good Day Out's Pig Walks are with little Kunekune piggies who love walking along the scenic Senni Valley with their handler who lives in this idyllic hidden valley. After walking with the pigs, you are treated to an ample spread of tea, coffee and cakes at the smallholding. There is also a variation on the walk with a bit more piggy time and a piggy interaction Spa session.

The pigs are sweet-natured and of steady temperament, but they do have big personalities. The name Kunekune means “fat and round”, so don’t expect any slender creatures!

With walks from April to October, the girls enjoy the interaction. Like all our experiences, the walking is actually good for their health and wellbeing so you can be sure that you can have a great time whilst you enjoy their great company.

- MINI DONKEY WALK -

Good Day Out’s little Miniature Mediterranean Dinky Donkeys are full of character. Spend a couple of hours with Maverick & Goose, getting to know them then walking them around the hill farm by their barn. The walk includes a picnic, usually with panoramic views to Pen y Fan and the Central Beacons (weather allowing!)

The Dinks are available for walks most days year round - individuals as well as groups can book. Shorter walks and interactive behabioural games sessions are also available.

- SHEEP DOG EXPERIENCE -

Learn all about sheep dog handling with Welsh Border Collies. Our friendly, knowledgable trainer, Ross Games, breeds and trains sheep dogs, regularly competing & judging internationally for Wales at sheep dog trials. If you love One Man and His Dog, you'll love this as you will have a chance to command a working sheep dog with sheep and move them around the field!

During this farm experience session, Ross will demostrate his skills with a few of  his working dogs at different stages of their training - then you can have a go!

.
