Cwmni Pen Productions is delighted to be offering a brand new production of Water Wars, written by award winning Welsh dramatist Ian Rowlands. It is performed by a cast of four well known actors: Bethan Ellis Owen (Pobol y Cwm), Dick Johns (The Office), Gwyn Vaughan Jones (Rownd a Rownd) and Russel Gomer (Stella).

In our future world there will be no nations only ecologies. And ecology starts with the smallest unit of all - family. To what lengths will you go to protect both? Some will sacrifice all, for make no mistake, the Water Wars are coming. Funny and dark, Water Wars is a play for today about the shape of all our tomorrows. See it, enjoy it, fear it.

Water Wars is a new bilingual play (Welsh/English) by highly-respected, award-winning Rhondda-born dramatist, Ian Rowlands. It is an eco-play. It is a comically haunting text about water security in a parched future. Set in 2050 (by which time Law and Order have been devolved to Wales), we are in a future not too dissimilar to our present – where water is a dying commodity, and so nations and people will fight for its ownership. A covert unit of two eco-policemen, Eben and Bill, sets out to blow the water line between Wales and England in order to protect the Welsh ecology. Water is scarcer than ever before, and Wales has more than England. The policemen fail in their endeavour and are killed; thereby setting off a chilling chain of events that may result in full-scale war over the planet’s most precious resource. Water Wars is a human story, structured around a love triangle of Eben, Bill and Sophia (once Eben’s wife, now Bill’s partner) that explores climate change, nationhood and language.
