Lantern-Procession-Machynlleth

About

Machynlleth will be filled with light and colour on Saturday 31 October as the Bro Ddyfi Lantern Procession returns for another year. The event brings the community together for a special evening celebrating creativity and the traditions of Calan Gaeaf.

Participants will meet at Canolfan Owain Glyndŵr before setting off at 6.30pm, carrying their illuminated lanterns through the town accompanied by a samba band. This year's theme is Noson Calan Gaeaf, adding a distinctly Welsh touch to the Halloween celebrations. The procession is expected to finish near the gates of the football ground.

Those wishing to take part can make their own lanterns at home or attend one of the workshops arranged ahead of the event.

Lantern-making kits will also be available from the Taj Mahal Community Hub.

A separate fireworks display and family disco are planned at Y Plas afterwards, organised by Tân-gwyllt Machynlleth, with tickets required for these additional activities.
