The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth is one of the world's great libraries. It is a legal deposit library, and holds the world's largest collection of works about Wales and other Celtic nations. The is a lively programme of events held at the library as well as exhibitions including 'Treasures' whicn is a permanent exhibition showcasing iconic items from the Library’s collection of archives, manuscripts, drawings, photographs, maps, and unique audio and film material.
Each of the items in this exhibition are treasures, because they are valuable, rare, old, beautiful or iconic, and have their own unique history that plays a special part in the story of Wales.
The café at the National Library is situated on the ground floor with easy access for buggies and wheelchairs. It has recently been revamped with new furniture, and a small play area for children and highchairs are also available for small children.
Open Monday to Saturday and serves breakfast rolls in the morning, and sandwiches, soup, paninis and some light meals during the day as well as hot meals and vegetarian dishes .. There are a variety of delicious homemade cakes available all day, along with hot and colds drinks.
