About

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is an iconic narrow gauge railway established in 1897, which first opened to the public on December 22, 1902. Originally designed to stimulate the local economy and support lead mines in the area, it has transformed over the years to become a beloved tourist attraction, showcasing stunning terrains impossible for standard gauge construction.

Journey back in time on a lovingly restored steam train winding through the breathtaking scenery of Mid Wales. From the seaside town of Aberystwyth to the dramatic waterfalls of Devil’s Bridge, this heritage railway offers an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Relax in comfortable carriages, soak up panoramic views of lush valleys and woodlands, and enjoy modern facilities including a welcoming café, shop, and museum. The Vale of Rheidol Railway is the perfect way to discover the heart of Wales.
