Ticket to Christmas Vale of Rheidol Railway

About

Make this Christmas one to remember with a magical journey on the Santa Special steam train. Climb aboard one of the Vale of Rheidol Railway’s beautifully restored historic locomotives and travel through the stunning Welsh countryside, soaking up the sights, sounds and nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional steam railway. Along the way, Santa’s cheerful elves will be on hand to entertain passengers, with plenty of festive fun, laughter and surprises.

The 50-minute return train journey travels to Capel Bangor before bringing you back to the Engine Shed Museum. Here, the Christmas adventure continues with an immersive one-hour experience set amongst a fascinating collection of historic steam locomotives.

Families can discover a series of festive activity areas, each offering something different:

The Conductor’s Lobby – pick up your Elf Passport and get your Christmas mission underway.

The Toymakers’ Workshop – join Santa’s elves and get involved with fun, hands-on Christmas activities.

Mrs Claus’ Living Room – step into a cosy festive setting with Christmas stories and seasonal entertainment.

Santa’s Grotto – finish your adventure with a very special visit to Santa.

Children can take part in activities throughout the experience and collect stamps in their Elf Passport along the way, creating a lovely souvenir to remember their day. Both the Elf Passports and activity sheets are available in Welsh and English.

There are magical touches throughout the experience, including the opportunity for children to write their Christmas wish list and send it straight to Santa at the North Pole.

The highlight for many families will be meeting Santa himself in his beautifully decorated grotto. Every child will receive a special Christmas present to take home, while the grown-ups can look forward to a festive surprise of their own!

Combining a nostalgic steam train journey with interactive activities, colourful characters and plenty of Christmas magic, Ticket to Christmas promises a memorable festive day out for the whole family.
