Situated in the foothills of Southern Snowdonia, Corris Craft Centre is the best craft centre in Wales with 9 independent Craft Workshops where you can meet the craftspeople, see them creating their crafts and buy their unique designs. There are opportunities to make your own unique crafts and many welcome commission work too.
CRAFT WORKSHOPS
Set against a backdrop of densely wooded hillsides in Mid Wales are 9 independent Craft Workshops where quality craftsmanship and the unique stories behind the handcrafted designs can be discovered. Workshops at the Craft Centre and items hand crafted include:
Taran Eco Designs - using only fallen trees, old posts and discarded wood, the craftsmen at Taran Eco Designs create a stunning collection of natural forest furniture; no trees are ever harmed.
Delyn Glass - Using a hot flame, Kevin can be seen on most days creating his beautiful collection of glass sculptures - wildlife, flowers, fantasy dragons and more.
The Candle Studio - Discover a range of candles in different colours, shapes and sizes. Kym can be seen, on most days, hand carving their candle range.
Chocablock - Using the finest Belgian chocolate, Chocablock create delicious handmade chocolates including dairy free, novelty, chocolate boxes, they also make their own fudge.
Hyde and Sheep - Using Welsh lambs' wool and leather, traditional methods are used to create stunning items including handbags, purses, wallets, leather dragon heads and more.
Agau Jewellery Studio - Phil, the Goldsmith at Agau, uses all precious metals to create his collection of Celtic and contemporary jewellery. Private commissions undertaken including wedding bands.
Quarry Pottery - See the ceramics being created on the potters wheel on most days. Quarry Pottery make the famous smoking dragons in a range of colours and sizes and a fabulous range of pottery.
Dyfi Distillery - The multi award winning Dyfi Distillery gins are distilled with precision and made with locally foraged botanicals. Their gins include Original, Pollination, Hibernation and Navigation.
Sammi Wilson Art - Sammi creates fabulous multi media artwork and photography. Commissions welcome.
HANDS-ON AND FUN CRAFT ACTIVITIES
There's lots of opportunities for relaxing and making your own crafts with hands-on fun activities including pottery painting, pottery throwing, candle dipping, chocolate making and furniture building. These activities are popular so advance booking is recommended.
THE CORRIS CAFE
At the centre of the Craft Workshops is The Corris Café where delicious local produce is used across the all-day menu. Enjoy freshly ground morning coffee (the coffee beans are expertly roasted by Zealots Coffee in North Wales) tea, hot chocolate or a cold drink with a great selection of locally baked cakes and biscuits. Dogs welcome.
There’s an all day Breakfast menu too, choose from Welsh sausages, bacon, eggs and mushrooms or enjoy a tasty fully loaded breakfast bap with all four fillings. Freshly baked pastries and cinnamon toast also available.
Launched in 2022, the Dyfi Dog. The dogs are made especially by award winning Rob Rattray Butchers, and are served in a brioche bun with optional mustard, ketchup and caramelised onions. The Real Burger menu includes Welsh steak Welsh lamb, Welsh barbeque, Welsh Rarebit and a vegan burger, all served on a sourdough beer bun with crips, chunky chips or sweet potato fries. Other options include homemade soup, Welsh Lamb cawl, a range of jacket potatoes, breaded whitebait, pies and a sandwich selection. All special diets catered for.
Enjoy afternoon tea with home baked scones and Bara Brith. A range of speciality teas and traditional teas (freshly ground coffee or choose from a range of cold drinks if you prefer) are available.
Tell the staff about any food allergies or special diets, they will be able to cater for your needs. There is free WIFI with seating available indoors and outdoors.
WELSH FOOD AND DRINK SHOP
Linked via an archway from the café is the Welsh Deli where you'll find shelves of mouth-watering produce which has been grown, reared and produced often within a few miles of Corris. Browse the shelves for Welsh honey, ciders, beers, wines, whiskey, jams, chutneys, preserves, Welsh chilli products, biscuits, cakes, Welsh coffee and teas, eggs, cheeses and lots more. Welsh food and drink hampers are a speciality and available all year round; choose delicious Welsh produce from our shelves and we will create a luxury hamper for you to take away, ready made hampers are also available.
AWARD WINNING VISITOR ATTRACTIONS
The Craft Centre is also the starting point for the King Arthur's Labyrinth underground storytelling adventure,The Welsh Legends Maze and the award winning Corris Mine Explorers (winner of a 2022 Trip Advisor Travellers' Choice award and The Best Activity / Experience in Mid Wales 2019/2020).
VIEWING POINT FOR THE MACH LOOP
The Mach Loop is a low flying training area used by the RAF and USAF, these fast aircraft can often be seen flying through the Mach Loop and the Café's outdoor seating area provides a great viewing point . Public Transport Directions
Accessible by public transport with regular buses from Aberystwyth, Dolgellau and Machynlleth: T2 stops right outside and 34 stops in the village of Corris (a 10 minute walk away). Sustrans Cycle Route 8 passes nearby.
Machynlleth station is 6 miles away.
