Eisteddfod yr Urdd Eisteddfod

About

The Urdd Eisteddfod 2026 will take place on Ynys Môn (Anglesey) from 25–31 May 2026 at the Anglesey Agricultural Showground near Gwalchmai, during the school half-term. As one of Europe’s largest youth cultural festivals, it plays a huge role in promoting the Welsh language and culture, bringing together young people from across Wales to compete and perform.

The festival includes hundreds of competitions in singing, instrumental music, dance, drama, recitation, creative writing, poetry, and visual art, with participants ranging from primary school age to young adults.

In 2026, the Eisteddfod will run over seven days, allowing for a broader programme and giving more learners and Welsh speakers opportunities to take part. Alongside the competitions, the Maes will host performances, exhibitions, food stalls, and activities for families, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

This will be the first time since 2004 that Anglesey has hosted the Urdd Eisteddfod, making it a particularly significant event for the island, with strong local involvement, volunteering, and a positive economic and cultural impact on the area.
