The Old Vicarage Llangurig

About

Situated only 5 miles from Llanidloes, The Old Vicarage is a distinctive Victorian property, situated in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, which has been tastefully converted to a cosy Bed and Breakfast. Little has been altered inside or outdoors, and the house features original wooden shutters, an oak staircase and original fireplaces, as well as antiques and artwork. Your comfort is assured with a range of well-furnished bedrooms, each with its own en-suite facilities, with special attention paid to detail and quality. The house is set in just under half an acre of sloping informal gardens, with patio and sun terrace. Welcoming adults only, The Old Vicarage offers a period style to reflect the bygone era of the turn of the century home, alongside contemporary facilities and amenities for your total comfort.

The Old Vicarage is ideal for walking, cycling and outdoor pursuits as well as a touring base. Located in the Wye Valley at the centre of Powys, mid-Wales, Llangurig, at 300 metres above sea level, is one of the highest villages in Wales and at the junction of the A470 and the A44 is a short distance from the market towns of Llanidloes and Rhayader. Llangurig is the first village on the River Wye which rises, with the Severn, in the Plynlimon hills some six miles away and the view from the top of Plynlimon (2465ft) is outstanding. Secure cycle storage is available.

The Old Vicarage is within easy reach of the Elan Valley, the coast at Aberystwyth and many local attractions as well as being perfectly situated for exploring the whole of mid-Wales, as well as the Marches, Shrewsbury and other destinations. There are walking and cycling routes on the doorstep – including the Wye Valley Way and the Trans-Cambrian Way and many outdoor pursuits are within each reach including off-road biking and motor cycling, riding, canoeing, shooting and much more. We are only a short drive from the Royal Welsh Showground and the University at Aberystwyth. Our comfortable lounge has many interesting books and maps for guests to borrow, with many on the Mid Wales countryside and area.

We focus too on providing the best from Welsh suppliers, with our breakfasts highlighting local produce and we also offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Packed lunches are available to order. Other little extras include eco-friendly toiletries and hand-made soaps. We are proud to be LGBTQ friendly. The Old Vicarage is a non-smoking property and we welcome pets by arrangement.

Whatever activity you are doing or whatever you want, you’ll find The Old Vicarage is the place where you can truly unwind.
