About

The Welsh National Sheepdog Trials 2026 will take place from 13th to 15th August 2026 at Defynnog, nr Brecon.

This prestigious rural event brings together the top handlers and highly trained sheepdogs from across Wales, all competing for the national title and qualification to international competitions.

Set in the scenic Brecon Beacons countryside, the trials showcase the skill, precision, and partnership between shepherd and dog, making it a must-see event for farming communities and visitors alike.

Competitors from all over Wales will be taking part in the event, showcasing their skills relating to the tradition of commanding sheepdogs.

The event is one for all to enjoy. Encouraging the local community to come and support the handlers, as well as visitors to the area.  

It’s an unique opportunity to experience an age-old sport at its finest, still essential to most farmers in their day to day lives when working in the sheep industry.
