Self-Guided Walking Holiday

Pembrokeshire Coast Path | Newport to Solva

Experience one of Britain’s most spectacular coastal trails at your own pace on this flexible, low-impact self-guided walking holiday. Carefully designed for independent travellers, this single-centre stay combines dramatic coastal walking with eco-conscious accommodation and seamless, car-free travel.

Discover the Wild Pembrokeshire Coast

Walk a breathtaking stretch of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Newport to Solva, tracing the rugged northern coastline via the Pencaer and St Davids peninsulas. This is a landscape of striking contrasts—towering cliffs and volcanic headlands, hidden coves and sandy beaches, all set against vast Atlantic views.

Choose from two curated five-day itineraries:

  • The Unwinding Way – a gentler, easy-to-moderate option with shorter daily walks
  • The Pilgrim’s Path – a more challenging route for confident walkers

With a self-guided format, you’re free to set your own pace, take rest days, or mix and match routes to suit your energy and interests.

Nature, Wildlife and Heritage

This is a walk rich in wildlife and history. Along the way, you may spot grey seals resting in secluded coves, seabirds nesting on cliff ledges, and dolphins or porpoises offshore. The route passes ancient burial chambers, historic mills and remote beaches steeped in local folklore, finishing near the iconic St Davids Cathedral.

Seasonal colour transforms the landscape throughout the year—from spring wildflowers and summer gorse to autumn bracken and berries—while rock pools and tidal inlets offer moments of quiet discovery.

Your detailed guidebook brings the journey to life with local insight, nature-spotting tips and cultural context.

Stay in Comfort, Close to Nature

You’ll be based in peaceful, eco-conscious self-catering accommodation in the Abermawr Valley, just a short walk from the coast path and a wild secluded beach.

Choose from:

  • The Eco Barn (sleeps 8): A unique and spacious Dutch barn conversion with striking design features and a balcony offering soul-stirring coastal views. Perfect for families and groups.
  • Penbwchdy Cottage (sleeps 8): A mid-19th-century Welsh farmhouse cottage seamlessly combining heritage features and modern elegance. Perfect for families and groups.
  • Loom Cottage (sleeps 2): A serene and soulful abode with uninterrupted views over the ancient woodland and coast. Wheelchair accessible. Perfect for couples or small families with 1 infant.

This single-centre holiday means no daily packing or luggage transfers—just return to your base each evening to relax by the wood-burning stove, enjoy coastal valley views, or unwind under star-filled skies.

Travel Light, Travel Green

Designed with sustainability in mind, this holiday works seamlessly without a car. Arrive by train and access each walk via public transport, with all bus routes and logistics clearly mapped out in your guidebook. It’s one of the most environmentally friendly ways to explore the Welsh coast.

Add a Touch of Adventure

For those looking to extend their trip or vary the pace, there’s plenty of opportunity to combine your walking holiday with guided adventure experiences. Take a break from the trail to try coasteering, surfing or sea kayaking along this spectacular coastline, or explore inland with paddleboarding, canoeing, rock climbing or e-mountain biking.

For a more restorative pause, unwind with a wood-fired coastal sauna session or join a yoga class or retreat. Boat trips to Pembrokeshire’s offshore islands offer another memorable way to experience the area’s wildlife and scenery. Activities are all bookable through Preseli Venture and can be easily added to your itinerary, making it simple to tailor your stay and create a longer, more varied coastal escape.
