About

Why choose Tal-y-llyn Railway for your corporate event?

The Talyllyn Railway, Bryneglwys quarry and Abergynolwyn village are a component part of a World Heritage Site, provide amazing snapshots of the extraction, processing, transport and community from the heyday of the Mid & North Wales slate industry.  The fascinating history of the slate industry in this corner of southern Snowdonia is waiting for you to explore it – climb aboard one of the Tal-y-llyn trains and step back in time!

The slate industry has shaped MId & North Wales’ physical landscape and its social and economic history for over two centuries – Welsh slate ‘roofed the nineteenth-century world’! The narrow-gauge railways were a crucial part of the industry’s transport system and success, and their designs and engineering were copied worldwide.

Group Travel & Charter Trains
You can charter your own train for your corporate event.  Charter trains can be provided for sole use of up to around 100 people, or a private carriage for a group. You'll travel along the beautiful Fathew valley before returning to private function rooms at either Tywyn Wharf or Abergynolwyn Station.

Catering options for all parties, charters and corporate hire are provided at King’s Café or Quarryman’s Caban, with options for hampers and drinks to take with you on your journey if you wish. Driver Experiences
Accompanied and guided by an experienced Talyllyn Driver, you will take the regulator of one of Talyllyn's famous locomotives from the shed at Tywyn Pendre for a trip to the end of the line at Nant Gwernol and back.  The small size of our narrow gauge locos means that only one visitor can be on the locomotive at a time, so our Driver Experience trains really are EXCLUSIVE – the whole trip is yours.
