CAFE

Our Food:
We pride ourselves in using the best locally produced and healthy food for our menus. That’s why our bread and cakes come from local bakers or from our own kitchen, our meat is supplied local and our venison burgers come from within Coed y Brenin Forest itself.

Fairtrade:
Of course some produce cannot be found locally so wherever possible we try to purchase Fairtrade products such as our Coffee, which is barista made by trained staff.

Green Initiative:
In order to encourage ‘greener’ visits we offer a 10% discount to anyone travelling to Coed y Brenin by public transport. Just show your valid ticket to the café staff.

Coed y Brenin Venison:
Support sustainable forest management and try one of our venison burgers.

Our venison is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified as it comes from a sustainable source. Our own Wildlife/Conservation Ranger, Iori Jones, manages the fallow deer population here at Coed y Brenin to ensure that the trees are able to grow naturally without being over nibbled by the deer. This produces plenty of venison which is butchered at Bala and sold here in our café. As the deer are from our own forest, our burgers are very low in "food miles" which means that there is very little greenhouse gas emission produced in their transportation.

Venison is also very low in cholesterol compared with other types of red meats so is good for you. But most of all, the Coed y Brenin venison burger, with mozzarella and cross hatch bun is delicious. Vegetarian and Vegan Food We also offer vegetarian and vegan dishes including breakfasts, baguettes and jacket potatoes with fillings.
