Powis Castle & Gardens

About

On Saturday 13 September, enjoy free entry to Powis Castle and Garden.

It’s all part of Open Doors — Wales’ annual contribution to the European Heritage Days initiative, which invites heritage organisations, private owners, local authorities and others to open their doors or offer activities to the public free of charge during September.

Once a medieval fortress, Powis Castle was transformed over 400 years, into a comfortable family home. Explore an amazing collection of paintings, furniture and tapestries and hear the fascinating stories behind them.

In the garden wander along Italianate terraces and marvel at spectacular yew hedges, dancing lead statues and extensive herbaceous borders bursting with late summer blooms.

Please be aware that there is ongoing conservation work within the castle.

Last entry to the castle is at 3pm.

We expect to be busy on this day so please plan ahead as parking may be limited.
