Our bespoke service offers up to 4 guests the opportunity to explore the nature reserve with a knowledgeable guide for up to 2 hours.

Some highlights on our reserve:

Spring/Summer

The oak woods come alive with spring flowers including bluebells, wood anemones and lesser celandines.

The air is filled with the songs and calls of returning migrant birds such as the Pied flycatcher, redstarts, wood warblers and many more.

Our water habitats attract many dragonflies and damselflies and look out for butterflies such as brimstone and the purple hairstreak.

Autumn/Winter

The grasslands and saltmarshes are wintering grounds for many types of waders, ducks and geese including a small population of Greenland white fronted geese. Wintering hen harriers and marsh harrier take to the skies as well.

Please note: All the wildlife that visits Ynys-hir is just that - wild. Our guides will do their best to help you spot or find the wildlife you are keen to see, but we cannot guarantee any specific species sightings on the day. We allow photographs on the tour but please be mindful that our guides are not photography experts and cannot offer tips or advices on photography. There is expected to be a large amount of walking around the reserve - please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the conditions and to take care with uneven surfaces.
