Battle on the Beach

About

Battle on the Beach in South Wales is one of the UK’s most distinctive off-road cycling races, set against the dramatic backdrop of the coastline at Cefn Sidan Beach and the trails of Pembrey Country Park.

This mass-start event welcomes riders on mountain bikes, gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes and more. The course combines fast, hard-packed beach racing with flowing forest singletrack and dune sections, creating a challenging and memorable experience.

Typically around 45 km in length, the race is known for its electric beach start, where hundreds of cyclists charge across the sand before heading into the park’s wooded trails. The weekend often also includes a night time-trial event known as “Battle in the Dark,” plus camping and a lively festival atmosphere.

Held annually in Carmarthenshire, the event attracts competitors from across the UK and beyond, catering to a wide range of ages and abilities.
