The Severn Break its Neck Trail (1.5 miles, 2.5 kilometres).
From the car park follow the start of the Cascades Trail to the boardwalk and turn left along the river bank. Pass the footbridge on your right and continue up to a meadow picnic area. The path follows the river and passes through highly scented woodlands of Noble Fir. From the Severn-Break-its-Neck bridge you can look into the yawning gully down which the Severn thunders in its first true waterfall.
In Llanidloes town centre, face the Market Hall from Great Oak Street and take Short Bridge Street directly opposite. Follow the narrow road to Old Hall and then on to the Rhyd-y-benwch car park.
The Rhyd-y-benwch car park can also be reached from the northern end of Llyn Clywedog on minor roads.
The nearest station is in Caersws.
