There are many opportunities for cycling on quiet roads in the Bala & Penllyn area, southern Snowdonia, you can find out more from the GoBala website which includes six cycling routes and other cycling possibilities.
There are routes along valleys and challenging hill climbs including the highest road pass in Wales “Bwlch y Groes”, its not a surprise that Bala is the home of the annual Wild Wales Challenge cycling event and two Triathlons each year. A cycling leaflet can be downloaded from GoBala (www.GoBala.org)
The Tegid Trail is a linear, mainly level trail on tarmac with excellent views of the lake and hills around Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid). It is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs etc. and there is access to the lake shore at several places (via steps). Along a busy road (A494) and the trail is shared with bikes.
