Dolgoch Falls Pool
Details
Dolgoch Falls (OS Grid Ref: SH 6504) on the edge of the Tayllyn valley in southern Snowdonia are a series of waterfalls that cascade down a rocky wooded ravine in the mountainside into a deep pool below. The waterfalls can be reached via a short walk and are part of the Nant Dol-goch stream which cascades down through woodland on its journey to join Afon Dysynni river.
The ravine is spectacular to visit any time of the year, especially if you take the trouble to climb all the way up to the top level. The waterfalls create a damp environment within the ravine, making it a perfect habitat for a diverse range of ferns, mosses and liverworts. A path will take you through the ravine and up to the highest waterfall, but the first section of the path to the lower falls is wheelchair accessible.
Admire the scenery, take some fab photos and explore the well maintained woodland paths. Good footwear is recommended if you are planning on doing the longer route as it is quite steep in places and can be slippery after rainfall. Alternatively take the short walk to see a cave and the falls. The Talylyn heritage railway runs over the falls.
