About

The Old Stores is a stunning Georgian house, in the heart of historic Montgomery. With two uniquely designed, deluxe guest rooms, retained period features alongside contemporary art and handwoven antique carpets, the house is full of personality and charm. Recently renovated and refurbished, it now has all the quality contemporary amenities that guests will need.

Our two guest rooms are well separated on the first floor, so its unlikely that you will meet other guests. Rain fall showers, fluffy towels, slippers, roll top bath, luxury Welsh toiletries, Egyptian cotton sheets, a wide choice of tea & coffee, plenty of fresh milk are standard. You have come to rest and relax, our guests regularly tell us how well they slept, how refreshed they feel as they leave. Not everyone wants take long walks, or do a cycle trail, take a gentle stroll around Montgomery and enjoy the beautiful architecture styles, fabulous views or a coffee. Fancy a day curled up on big squashy sofa with a good book? The drawing room is the perfect place. Our courtyard garden offers a quiet place to enjoy some sunshine, a takeaway meal, a coffee - the choice is yours.

Breakfasts are fabulous. We use as many locally sourced ingredients as we can, these are farmed and produced by family, friends and neighbours, please ask us to tell you about them. Muddy boots, wet coats, a bicycle needing a dry place: we can sort it all for you. Early or late check in or check out: ask us, if we can oblige we certainly will.

Covid 19 has caused some changes to our already vigorous cleaning routines. We now use specific products, we sanitise high touch areas and some items are removed from the room. Mask are complimentary, sanitiser can be found throughout the house and we will arrange your breakfast 'slot' at check in. We are doing everything that we can to keep us all safe.

Montgomery is located on the Shropshire-Welsh border against a backdrop of rolling hills. Outdoors there’s so much to do – explore castle ruins, country churches, Montgomery’s Thursday market, take a walk on Offa’s Dyke or a stroll along local footpaths. Lake Vyrnwy and the Montgomery Canal are great for watersports. Explore on foot, by bicycle or drive a little further - an hour by car can get you to the west Wales coast, or into the Snowdonia National Park, the Elan Valley or over the border into Shropshire. Montgomery is the perfect base.

Come to stay, treat yourself! Come and discover!
