CRAFT STUDIOS
Set against a backdrop of densely wooded hillsides in Mid Wales are 9 independent Craft Studios where quality craftsmanship and the unique stories behind the handcrafted designs can be discovered. Items handmade at the Craft Centre include natural forest furniture, glass sculptures, hand carved candles, handmade chocolates and fudge, herbal lotions and remedies, Celtic and contemporary jewellery, pottery, ceramics and smoking dragons, traditional wooden toys and multi award winning artisan gin.
Meet the craftspeople, see them creating their crafts and buy their unique designs. Many welcome commission work too.
Situated in the foothills of Southern Snowdonia, the Corris Craft Centre is at the heart of a traditional slate mining village with the surrounding hillsides hiding miles of disused underground tunnels and caverns. The village of Corris, which can be seen from the Craft Centre, is a sea of Welsh slate rooves.
HANDS-ON AND FUN ACTIVITIES
There's lots of opportunities for relaxing and making your own crafts with hands-on fun activities in many of the craft studios including pottery painting, candle dipping, chocolate making, herbal crafting and furniture building.
Y CROCHAN CAFE
At the centre of the Craft Studios is Y Crochan cafe where delicious local produce is used across the all-day menu. Look out for the monthly specials featuring fresh seasonal and local produce. Seating available indoors and outdoors.
SMALL CHILDRENS' PLAY AREA
The small childrens' play area is a great place for little ones to let off some steam. There are swings, a slide, small climbing frame, fireman's pole and small ride-on rocker animals.
WELSH FOOD AND DRINK SHOP
Linked via an archway from the cafe is Bwtri Y Crochan a Welsh Food and Drink shop where you'll find shelves of mouth-watering produce which has been grown, reared and produced often within a few miles of Corris. Welsh food and drink hampers are a speciality and available all year round.
EXCITING VISITOR ATTRACTIONS
The Craft Centre is also the starting point for the Corris Mine Explorers adventure (winner of The Best Activity / Experience in Mid Wales 2019/2020), Lost Legends of The Stone Circle outdoor storytelling maze and the King Arthur's Labyrinth underground adventure. There's also a Tourist Information Point.
OPEN
