Glamping in Mid Wales.

The Straw Cottage is truly far from the madding crowd, sitting on the edge of Ben’s Wood, the ground gently slopes down to a pretty little stream running through the meadow.
Wake up to the sound of birdsong, go to sleep to the sound of Holly Brook, breakfast outside with just the meadow flowers and the hills for company.
This is the romance of a bygone era with modern comfort. Children have the freedom to explore safely, build dens, stream dip, follow a treasure hunt and toast marshmallows by the bonfire.
The cottage has two double bedrooms, one has twin beds and the other a double bed. There is a hot and cold shower and a flushing WC in the bathroom.
A large sitting room with wood burner leads out onto the veranda. There is a kitchen area with sink with hot and cold water, gas oven and gas fridge. Heating comes from the wood burner, hot water, and cooking is by gas.
Lighting is by lanterns, candles, gas and solar. Wind up and battery torches are also supplied. Comfortably and attractively furnished.
Close by the cottage is a barbeque pit and a slightly further away is a place to have a bonfire. The cottage is built using centuries old building methods, the walls are made of straw bales coated with lime mortar, the roof insulation is sheep’s wool and the roof has cedar shingles
There is no electricity or modern appliances at The Straw Cottage. Weekly lets from Friday to Friday and from Monday to Monday. Short breaks of 3 nights start on a Friday. Short breaks of 4 nights start on a Monday.

GREAT FOR COUPLES:
The Straw Cottage is the ultimate romantic hideaway, a perfect combination of adventure and comfort. Built of straw in an idyllic, completely secluded position in open woodland with a stream and far reaching views. Snuggle up on big squashy sofas by the wood burner with candles and lanterns. Or have supper on the old wooden table made years ago by a local farmer for his new bride, lit by a candelabra. Warm and cosy with comfortable beds, no electricity but a hot shower, flushing WC and gas oven.
GREAT FOR WILDLIFE
The farm is in a conservation scheme where hedges are allowed to grow higher and wider, old pastures are preserved and areas are left wild, thereby encouraging a wide range of flora and fauna. Red Kites are seen regularly on the farm as are green woodpeckers, tawny and barn owls, redstarts, chaffinches, bullfinches, blue tits and many other species. There are ten bird boxes in the wood around the straw cottage. Hares are seen regularly on the farm. Inside the cottage there are books to help identify birds, plants and trees. Come into Llandrindod Wells, go past the Metropole Hotel (large green hotel on your left), take the first turning left at the mini roundabout past the Metropole, signposted The Lake. Almost as soon as your turn left, turn right between the chemists and the Automobile Palace. Follow that road out past the lake to a T junction. Turn left, go up hill past golf course, round bad bend, past bungalows on your left, keep going for about 1/4 mile and then follow the road as it bends sharply to the right (do not take the road in front which has a no through road sign). Look for the finger post that says Ty Gwyn Farm. Follow the lane and go through a metal gate (normally open), down the hill to a black gate, turn in just through the black gate into the yard and continue into the courtyard and we will take you to The Straw Cottage.
Ty Gwyn Farm is the only farm on the right after the golf course. Don't go into Ty Gwyn Bach, which is well before you come to us.
