Let Mountain Bike Wales take all the hassle out of organising your weekend away, and guide you on your very own Wales adventure...

Mountain Bike Wales take you on a journey exploring off road trail riding for the first time, or for more seasoned riders, you can experience epic multi day journeys across Wales. Experienced guides tailor rides to suit your ability.
Based in rural mid Wales, Mountain Bike Wales are ideally situated to guide you over the Cambrian Mountains, Brecon Beacons and southern Snowdonia. The Elan Valley near Rhayader is our backyard. With it's large expanse of open land and excellent bridleways, the Elan Valley offers riders a true adventure at every twist and turn along the trail. The Mid Wales forests at Nant Yr Arian, Hafren, and Dyfi, have excellent trail heads, but the forests offer so much more if you know where to look!

So don't waste time reading maps trying to guess what 'might' be the best trail or epic loop, or trawling websites for accommodation looking for where 'might' be good to eat?

There are so many trails around the Elan Valley that you could easily spend a long weekend and never ride the same trail twice.

We base our weekends out of Ty Morgans that's situated right in the heart of Rhayader, luxury accommodation, fine food and good ale. From here our weekends go out in all directions, toward the west is the Elan Valley, a mixture of lakes amongst a vast expanse of wilderness that's often referred to as the desert of mid Wales.

The trail is a mixture of grassy and rocky bridleways, long climbs and fast flowing descents. there is of course the occasional river crossing! We tailor our weekend to suit the group, and a route plan is prepared to reflect the overall ability.

By car: If travelling by car and using a SatNav, our postcode is SY19 7BU. We would suggest driving via Llanidloes or Llanbrynmair if travelling from the east. A GPS can often send you via Trefeglwys and some very tight, narrow and steep lanes. Difficult to drive when you don't know the road.

By public transport: If travelling by train, there are two stations nearby. Both Caersws and Machynlleth are approx. 15 minutes away. It's roughly a 4 hour journey from central London changing at Birmingham New Street if travelling from South East. Trains run every hour from Shrewsbury.

If travelling by bus, there are bus stations in Llanidloes, Newtown and Machynlleth. The Traws Cymru service travels through Wales along the coast and A470 on routes T4/5/6. Visit for details.
