Details

The village of Llechryd is 3 miles south-west of Cardigan on the A484 road to Newcastle Emlyn; the name Llechryd derives from the Welsh for ‘Slate Ford’ as slate was once extracted from nearby quarries. The village is on the River Teifi which was navigable to here until the 1840s, is crossed by a Grade II* listed bridge built in the 17th century which was part of an ancient drovers' road.
