About

The Ystwyth Trail is a 32.1km/20M cycle route and footpath linking Aberystwyth and Tregaron. Part of the trail follows the track of the old Great Western Railway line.
Start: Aberystwyth SN584812
Finish: Tregaron SN679597

Most of the off-road sections of the Ystwyth Trail are suitable for families with young children. Dogs should be kept on leads and young children supervised – the route crosses public highways at several points.

The complete trail is suitable for experienced cyclists. The trail offers access to Tregaron and Lampeter Cycle Break Centre routes and to Sustrans Route 81 (Lôn Cambria) linking Aberystwyth with Shrewsbury and Route 82 (Lôn Teifi) linking Aberystwyth to Cardigan and Fishguard.

All of the Ystwyth Trail is suitable for walkers. The trail offers access to circular walks around Trawsgoed, circular routes across the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve and other linear and circular routes.

Several level sections are suitable for persons with disabilities or using mobility scooters. Aberystwyth to Llanfarian is almost all on a tarmac surface. Just north of Tregaron, Cors Caron and the bird hide are accessible via level boardwalks.

Some sections offer access to horse riders (there is permissive access across Cors Caron).
