Festival, Mon 26 Aug - Sun 1 Sep 2019, £10-£38

'What excites us about Wall2Wall this year is that it's grown to be a seven-day event. A new venue at The King's Head will host three Blues gigs beginning on Monday August 26 and leading up to the festival dinner at the Angel Hotel on Thursday August 29.

'So I'll be looking forward to the John Paul Gard Trio on the opening night. John's become a popular draw at Black Mountain Jazz and is sure to kick off the festival in great style as well as inaugurate Wall2Wall's first three-night Blues celebration.
'This year the dinner boasts a coup in the appearance of vocalist Ian Shaw, simply one of the best male jazz singers in the world and a recent winner of the UK Parliamentary Jazz Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist and twice winner in the BBC Jazz Awards.

'No female UK jazz singer is more compelling than Sarah Gillespie, who brings her sextet to the Melville Theatre on Saturday August 31. Saturday will be a big day. Among many others, it will feature funky trombonist Dennis Rollins with Welsh harpist Ben Creighton Griffiths's group Chube. Dennis, famed for his educational outreach activities, will also be running a young people's workshop, the results of which will be an appearance by The Big Bluesy Jazz Band. Knowing Dennis, I'm expecting something both big and bluesy!

Drummer Alex Goodyear, who impressed in the band at last year's dinner, will be bringing his own septet to celebrate Bebop. I'm also looking forward to the magical sounds of festival newcomers John Law and Nick Kacal with their respective bands.
'There's lots more, including workshops and interval music . Check it all out, stay cool, and pick up the Wall2Wall vibe!'
