The Swan at Hay Hotel is a delightful hotel and restaurant in Hay-on-Wye, the famous town-of-books, in The Brecon Beacons National Park. As a former coaching inn, The Swan at Hay is full of character, from the original Georgian windows overlooking the garden to the cobbled stable block.

The bedrooms are full of charm and character, and are all different in shape and size. Some have views of the walled garden, while others have original period features. All rooms are decorated to a similar standard, with en-suite bathrooms, flatscreen TVs, DVD players and generous tea tray.

Chef-owner Harry Mackintosh trained in France and uses his classic French training to create delicious dishes from the wonderful produce available locally while his sister Amy and her delightful front-of-house team will look after you throughout your visit. When staying at The Swan at Hay you can be sure of a wam welcome and good food.

Directions from the East
Follow the M4 over the Severn Bridge to Junction 24 (Newport). Take the A449 and then the A40 to Abergavenny. Stay on the A40 until just after the village of Crickhowell, then turn right onto the A479 to Talgarth. From here take the road sign-posted to Three Cocks & Hay-on- Wye (A4079 end then right onto the A438), on reaching Three Cocks stay on the same road and continue on into Hay (B4350). As you come into the town centre, we're the first building on the left. Turn left immediately after the hotel and you will enter the hotel car park.

Directions from the North
Take the M5 to junction 8 and then the M50 to Ross-on-Wye. Then take the A49 to Hereford, after passing through Harewood End take the left turn for Hay-on-Wye (B4348) Stay with the B4348 & follow the signposts to Hay passing through Villages of Kingstone, Peterchurch & Dorstone. On entering Hay, continue until you drive straight past the car park. At the end of the road turn left and The Swan at Hay is straight in front of you. Take the road to the left of the hotel and you will see a sign for the hotel car park.

Directions for the West
Follow directions to Brecon and continue on the A4079 to Hay-on-Wye. As you come into the town centre, we're the first building on the left. Turn left immediately after the hotel and you will enter the hotel car park.
