The Observer Magazine called Graig Wen 'an awe-inspiring corner of Snowdonia' and breathtaking views of the Mawddach Estuary and mountains await you here. The stylishly converted Victorian slate cutting mill perches above native woodland leading to the waters' edge. Our easy going atmosphere and beautiful environment make Graig Wen the perfect rural retreat for walkers, bird-watchers, mountain bikers/cyclists, artists, photographers and star-gazers. Watch woodpeckers from your window or hang out with the herons.

We've got luxury beds, Welsh slate floors, mighty oak beams and custom-made funky furniture. All 5 of our guest bedrooms have: bespoke furniture made from local reclaimed slate and timber, luxury beds with distinctive Welsh rugs, flat screen TVs with inbuilt DVD/CD players, free WIFI, Fairtrade tea and coffee tray, complimentary Pure Lakes toiletries, original artwork

There is a spacious communal area with stunning views an honesty bar and eclectic library of books and music. Our dining room or ""Caban"" and terrace overlook the Mawddach estuary and mountains. We are licensed to serve wine and beer.

Please note that weekends generally require a minimum booking of 2 nights. If you require a 1 night booking during these times then please call us on 01341 250482 to check availability.

Our guest house is suitable for children over 10 years of age. Families with younger children are very welcome in our adjoining holiday cottages, camp site and yurts.

Guests can explore Graig Wen's 45 acres of wild woodland, streams and meadows or cosy up in the spacious lounge with an eclectic library of books and music . There's an honesty bar, free wifi access and (some) mobile reception.

If you're looking for a special place for a group celebration, Graig Wen's 5 room B&B adjoins four holiday cottages (sleeping 4-6), camp site and Mongolian style yurts - perfect for adventure seekers and romantics.

You can step straight onto the coastal Mawddach cycle trail or climb past waterfalls into the foothills of the spectacular Cadair Idris mountain range. Attractions within easy reach include miles of sandy beaches at Barmouth and Fairbourne; Portmeirion - scene of The Prisoner cult TV show; world heritage site Harlech Castle; Centre for Alternative Technology and Coed y Brenin's forest trails for hardcore mountain bikers. It's a pleasant stroll, peddle, or paddle along the estuary to the picturesque local pub, RSPB reserve or Fairbourne's beach, shops and steam railway. This is the ideal base to explore the Snowdonia National Park - whether you want to steam up Snowdon on a train or go white-water rafting. The handsome town of Dolgellau is 5 miles away, offering traditional and contemporary cuisine, cappuccino fixes, Ty Siamas, the new national centre of Welsh Folk Music, an excellent monthly Farmers Market.
