From Shrewsbury take A458 Welshpool, turn right onto B4393 (Lake Vyrnwy 28 miles), through Four Crosses, Llansantffraid, Llanfyllin. Approaching Lake Vyrnwy there is a sharp right hand bend - take left fork (signposted Cownwy) at wooden bus shelter and follow white H.F.H. signs.
