About

Talley Woodlands are managed by Natural Resources Wales. For full details of the visitor facilities here (including trail lengths and grades) and information about any changes or temporary closures to trails or other facilities please go to the Natural Resources Wales website.

Talley Woodlands overlook the historic village of Talley in Carmarthenshire village which grew up around its abbey. The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII and the stone was used to build much of the present village and chapel. The abbey ruins are looked after by Cadw and are open to visitors.

The walking trails offer far-reaching views over the abbey ruins, village and surrounding hills.

There is a small picnic site in an open, grassy area near the woodland entrance.

Car parking is in a small layby at the woodland entrance. Please park carefully, leaving the gateway clear for emergency access.

WALKING TRAILS

The walking trails are waymarked from start to finish. Look out for the information panel at the start of the trails.

The trails vary in length but they all have a very steep climb and go to the same viewpoint. The views from this viewpoint are spectacular and well worth the steep climb but wear suitable footwear!

The trails follow a combination of forest roads, stony tracks and grassy paths. There is a picnic bench at the viewpoint and several other benches along the trails.

For full details of the visitor facilities here (including trail lengths and grades) and information about any changes or temporary closures to trails or other facilities please go to the Natural Resources Wales website.
