Llanwrtyd WellsLlanwrtyd Wells is the smallest town in Britain. It is also one of the friendliest, having a long history of catering for the many visitors who, today, come to enjoy the unspoilt beauty of the surrounding Cambrian Mountains. The town is a mecca for walkers, cyclists and pony trekkers keen to experience the olde worlde charm of the town and the spectacular mountain scenery.
It is an area steeped in history stretching back to the Stone Age. Much of today's heritage can be traced to the Celts who arrived from their central European homeland around 200BC. They gave us the basis of Cymraeg, the Welsh language, still widely spoken and the pastoral traditions of the area. They rended their plots of cereals and flax and kept sheep and oxen, often alongside a hillside encampment or Dinas.
