Welsh International Walking Festival at Llanwrtyd Wells

This year the Welsh International Walking Festival at Llanwrtyd Wells is twinned with English International Walking Festival at Langport Somerset. This twinned festival is the first of its kind. Over the coming years it is hoped to include festivals in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eire, eventually creating a series of five truly international walking events.

The aims of the walks are to provide a focal point for people who enjoy walking, encourage physical activity of the kind that everyone can enjoy, provide a challenge and reward and to show some of the delightful countryside around both Langport and Llanwrtyd Wells with different routes each day.

Both Festivals are non-competitive walks and are open to anyone on payment of the appropriate fees. These are qualifying events towards the award scheme promoted
by the IVV, (International Federation of Popular Sports) an organisation which encourages personal fitness through regular outdoor activity. Details and information on the
IVV, represented in the British Isles by the British Walking Federation, will be available at the start venue of the events.

The walks are for pleasure, but individuals or groups may use them to raise funds for deserving causes if they wish. Each individual will qualify for a certificate for
every walk completed. Those taking part in both the English and Welsh events will receive a free badge which incorporates both national flowers, the Rose and the Daffodil, the first badge of its kind.
