Y Bala

Bala is set on the shores of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales. The town is an ideal base for exploring the coast and mountains of the Snowdonia National Park. The unspoilt scenery around Bala is truly magnificent, as the town is circled by the Berwyn, Aran and Arenig mountain ranges and numerous villages full of character and history, such as Llanerfel, Llanfor, Llanuwchlyn and Llangywer.

The town is known as an international centre for watersports. Sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing can be enjoyed on Bala Lake/Llyn Tegid with Canolfan Tryweryn - National White Water Centre nearby. Bala Lake Railway offers a delightful 9 mile return journey alongside the lake, through the beautiful and natural Snowdonia National Park.

The heritage of the town is a long and rich one stretching from Roman times and the statues to be seen around the town reveal its importance as a hub for religious activity
