Experience the nostalgia of historic steam trains in some of Wales’ finest countryside. The railway starts on the coast at Tywyn, snakes through the foothills of Cader Idris to Dolgoch Falls, Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol. The train clings to the hillside as it passes through woodland and over ravines. The trip takes about an hour each way. Your ticket allows you to break your journey and extend your day: you could take a country walk, explore wooded paths, discover waterfalls or visit the beach. Tywyn Wharf station is home to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, which tells the story of little railways across Britain, and
King’s Cafe has hot and cold menus, lunch time specials and a licensed bar. Quarryman’s Tea Room at Abergynolwyn serves a range of refreshments and light bites.

Round Trips tickets - giving you unlimited travel on day of issue: Adults £14.50, Over 60s £13.00, Accompanied Children £2 "Kids go for 2 Quid".

Fares for individual Single and Return journeys are available. Great value 12 month and 8 day tickets are available.

Discounts for Disabled, Carers and Groups. (Groups should book in advance).
Tickets are available on the day from all staffed stations and from the Guard on the train.

Notes Trains operate at February half term, Sundays in March, Daily 28 March April - 31 October, Selected days in November and at Christmas.

Tywyn is on the A493 road from Machynlleth to Dolgellau. Approaching from Aberdyfi Wharf station is on the left. Coming from Dolgellau, go through the town centre past the National Rail station for 300yds and we are on the right. Large car park 100 yards away.

Parking is also available at Dolgoch and Abergynolwyn stations, located on the B4405 Bryncrug to Talyllyn road.

King's Licenced Cafe & Bistro - at Tywyn Wharf station open from breakfast to afternoon tea, and on selected evenings.
Gift Shop - a wide range of gifts, books, models and souvenirs at Tywyn Wharf station.
The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum - Free museum at Tywyn Wharf telling the story of the narrow gauge railways of Wales and beyond.
Quarryman's Caban - tea rooms at Abergynolwyn station, open when train are running. Most trains take a 20-30 minute break here.
Railway car parks at Tywyn Wharf (£1 )and Abergynolwyn (Free). There is a privately owned car park at Dolgoch Falls (charges).
