Gregynog Festival 2018 - Remembering Morfydd

Gregynog Festival 2018 - Remembering Morfydd

In a change to its traditional format and timings, Gregynog Festival 2018 will feature a series of collaborations, led by Artistic Director, Dr Rhian Davies, with events being held throughout Wales and in London to commemorate the centenary of the death of the pioneering Welsh composer Morfydd Owen. Rhian is the leading authority on the composer, the subject of her Doctorate and pictorial biography Never So Pure a Sight.

The season will see a series of recitals, talks and special events in locations central to the composer’s life, starting on 20 July in BBC Prom 8 where BBC NOW play Morfydd Owen’s Nocturne, preceded by a Proms Plus talk on her life and music by Rhian Davies. The Festival programme will conclude at the end of September in Llanbrynmair, Owen’s Montgomeryshire family seat, from which she took her bardic name Llwyn-Owen.

Full details will be available shortly.

We plan to return to our traditional early summer events at Gregynog Hall from 2019.
