Lantern Making Workshop

Lantern Making Workshop

Free lantern making workshop for visitors and community so we can create a Giant Lantern Parade in Cardigan 9 December.
  • Self-assessed Accessibility Information

Festival, from 13 Nov 2016, free entry

The lantern making workshops are part a new project called Creative Cardigan that is launching a Festive Fortnight in December.

We hope everyone has the chance to make a lantern so they can join a parade through the streets and be part of an evening spectacular on Friday 9 December from 7pm – 8pm.

On that night Cardigan’s many shops will be open for late night shopping. Small World Theatre will lead the parade from Pendre Art to Prince Charles Quay where there will be a breath taking fireworks display at 8pm.

Workshops will be fun and creative. Please encourage friends and family to make lanterns and come along to this great event.

The theme of this parade centres around the first Eisteddfod, but it will also be inspired by festive decorations. Imagine harps and stars with bells and bards. A few giant group lanterns will feature and some of these will be displayed in the town after the parade. You will be able to take your lantern home after the parade in time for Christmas.

Lanterns are made from tissue paper and PVA glue, so please come to the making session in old clothes (some aprons will be available as well).

We’d like you to book ahead so we know how many staff to help. Please contact us on 01239 615 952 and speak to a member of Small World Theatre. Our Box Office open times are Tues – Fri, 9.30am – 4.30pm.

See you all soon!

Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Admission free of charge.

Creative Cardigan: The project has been funded by the Welsh Government through Visit Wales’ Tourism Product Innovation Fund which aims to encourage partnership working and innovative ideas which will have a greater impact and attract more visitors.
