Brecon Baroque Festival 2016 - “Thou flower of cities all”: London’s Music 1550 - 1780

Come and join us for the 2016 Festival which celebrates London’s music from Thomas Tallis to J. C. Bach.

Henry Purcell: The Fairy Queen. Friday 21 October – 7.00 pm at Theatr Brycheiniog. Tickets: £22 (concessions £20/under 18s free).

Lunchtime recital by Ystradivarius, Saturday 22 October – 1.00 pm at Christ College Chapel.
Tickets: £10 (concessions £8/under 18s free). J. C. Bach: brother and inspiration – chamber music by J. C. Bach, J. C. F. Bach and Mozart.

Baroque Tea Dance. Saturday 22 October– 3.00 pm at Theatr Brycheiniog Studio. Tickets: £10.
Period dance, including Jacob’s Hall Jig, tea and cakes with Dancing Master Peter Brock and a trio of musicians.

Brecon Baroque and Robin Blaze. Saturday 22 October – 7.00 pm at Theatr Brycheiniog: Tickets: £22 (concessions £20 / under 18s free). Songs and Fantasias from Byrd to Purcell.

Tr!jo: Sunday 23 October – 3.00 pm at The Plough Chapel, Lion Street. Tickets: £10 (concessions £8/under 18s free). Continental Connections from J. S. Bach to Geminiani.

Trinity Baroque - A Birthday Feast: Sunday 23 October – 7.00 pm at Brecon Cathedral. Tickets: £15 (concessions £12.50/under 18s free). A festive banquet celebration of Thomas Tallis with his mass ‘Puer Natus Est’ interspersed with motets and songs by Tallis and his peers.

Brecon Baroque Festival Orchestra: Monday 24 October – 7.00 pm at Theatr Brycheiniog. Tickets: £16 (concessions £14/under 18s free). Handel’s Water Music and Oboe Concerto plus music by Charles Avison and Purcell.

As well as the concert programme we have a rich programme of talks, a guided walk (Monday morning and afternoon) and dance events as well as the Festival’s pop-up cafe Will’s Coffee House (Saturday and Sunday).

The town of Brecon is bisected by the main A470 and A40 roads, which cross the National Park. There is on-street parking in the town as well as a variety of car parks in town centre.

The town has no train station, however there are local bus services in the area. The nearest train station is either Abergavenny or Llandovery.
