Sustrans route 82 begins in the North Wales city of Bangor close to the Menai Estuary. This route heads south along the Cardigan Bay coastline.

The route south of Bangor to Caernarfon is almost entirely traffic free. Once it has passed through Caernarfon it continues to be traffic free before arriving in Cricceith and Porthmadog where it uses country lanes.

Beyond Porthmadog the route uses forestry tracks and quiet lanes before heading into Coed-y-Brenin which is traffic free. This is a haven for all types and skills of cycling and includes a cycle hire and a refreshment stop.

Towards Dolgellau and beyond, the route is a mixture of traffic free and quiet roads before heading into Machynlleth.
