Journey Deep into the Heart of Silver Mountain. Steeped in myths and legends, high in the ancient Cambrian Mountains, the Silver Mountain Experience has tumbling streams, mysterious forests and long abandoned mine workings that will take you on a journey through the mists of time.

Wales' only silver mine visitor attraction. A popular family visitor attraction offering a choice of guided underground tours Heritage or Black Chasm plus a host of surface attractions for all ages. Above ground a 7 acre fantasy realm, together with water play, caters for younger children, whilst the Miners Trail & exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the old mine workings. A choice of quiz trails are available too.

TOURS (last approx 45mins, part underground, sensible footwear - not sandals):

HERITAGE TOUR - guide-led fascinating facts tour that gives an amazing glimpse into the past life of the mine and the people that worked there or....
BLACK CHASM TOUR(S) - character-led fact and fantasy tour based upon myths and legends of the mine and the local hills with fully themed finale and a few scares along the way! The Black Chasm (12A) version is the scariest or take the (PG) version for the youngsters and those of a nervous disposition!


WOO HOO WOOD..... Lose yourself in the Magic of Woo Hoo Wood and explore the tunnels where the Grovels dwell. Involve the grown-ups to help with building a den from the branches on the ground, find your own way through the Tangle-Foot Maze and spot the Wang Bats brollies in the trees or even the Giants pencils!
SILVER RIVER WATER PLAY..... block the water channels to divert the flow or dam it completely and then release the floodwaters
GEM PANNING...... try your hand at panning for gems to be found in the paydirt taken from the mine - a totally addictive and absorbing activity for all ages!
MINERS TRAIL.....Start with the Silver Mine EXHIBITION in the MUSEUM and then explore this award winning site at your leisure, following in the footsteps of those miners from long ago. BALCOMBES LEVEL..... create your own adventure - explore this tunnel without a guide - you can't get lost in there, honest!
QUIZ TRAILS..... Miners Trail Quiz or Woo Hoo Quiz sheets available free of charge.

The Silver Mountain Experience is open daily 10am until 5.30pm from Whitsun to end October. During the winter months please see our web site for opening times. Last admission 1 hour before closing.

The Silver Mountain Experience is located on the A44 (Aberystwyth - Llangurig (A470) road). It is approximately 11 miles from Aberystwyth and 2 miles from Ponterwyd (A4120) which links to Devils Bridge. Llangurig (A470) is 14 miles away.

It is clearly signposted in the the village of Llywernog, directly opposite the Red Kite Cafe.

The local 525 bus stops on request at the entrance on the A44, with Aberystwyth train station 11 miles away.
